There are though completely phonetic shorthand systems,
where symbols represent sounds rather than letters, and words generally written as spoken.
Teeline is based on the alphabet and spelling of words using that alphabet. The system reduces the amount of writing by firstly streamlining the letter characters themselves and then omitting all unnecessary letters from words. For instance, silent letters are removed and in some cases where helpful phonetics are used as in the below audio example.
