With advances in modern technology, it has never been a more important time to learn shorthand(stenography). Due to our current hectic lifestyles speed is of the essence and especially when it comes to communication. There are new mobile devices created everyday and many are powerful enough to record handwriting written on touch sensitive screens. Speed + Ease of input is increasingly becoming more vital for daily use with the new mobile and computer applications. However, the only way to further increase speed is to change the manner of the writing or text which is where, Trevor Burton Shorthand comes in..
Teeline is a much newer shorthand system than Pitman, designed to be easier to learn, and most often used by journalists. It is slower than Pitman for recording spoken words, but its ease of learning makes up for this. Teeline is based much more on the written alphabet whereas Pitman uses phonetics.
Teeline also can be used in other languages without having to learn anything new. There are versions of Pitman that have been designed for other languages but they can be fundamentally different to the English form. If you are new to shorthand or unsure on which system to choose we recommend giving Teeline a go.
Whether you’re currently a Journalist (the NCTJ recommends learning shorthand), work
in the medical or legal profession or in an office it doesn’t matter because shorthand
can now be used anywhere thanks to WIFI (Wireless Internet) Technology and be extremely
beneficial for any profession when it perhaps traditionally didn’t used to be.
